The Christian Gospel is that Jesus Christ, who is God, came to this world (John 3:16) that has been sinful since The Fall (Rom. 3:23) to show us that He is indeed God,and that He is perfect in all ways. He then He died on the cross (Phil. 2:6-9) to take the penalty of our sins (2 Cor. 5:21). Jesus then resurrected from his death (1 Cor. 15:4) by the power of the Holy Spirit. In doing so, anyone who believes that the Lord Jesus died on the cross for our sins and was resurrected will have their sins eternally forgiven, because they accepted the pardon that was offered by God (John 3:16;18). By believing in Jesus, the Holy Spirit changes our hearts (2 Cor. 5:17), and we live a life in obedience to what Jesus commanded us to do (Mark 8:34). If we reject this Gospel, we will be held responsible for our sin (John 3:18), and be condemned to eternal punishment (2 Thess. 1:9). However, God is loving, and desires no one to perish, but everyone to repent (Rom. 5:8;1 Tim. 2:4).
Does anyone even know God anymore?
North America is so pampered. Barely any Christian even understands the basics of God.
Where are the Christians that pray and worship God, and not have to be in a building on Sunday morning? Where are the Christians that know just how powerful God is? Where are the Christians who don’t need people or entertainment or anything else to be happy?
I can count them on one hand.
There’s no weeping in the church anymore. There’s no anguish before God anymore. No deep pain, or deep sorrow before God anymore. All we hear is that God just wants us to be happy. But what barely any Christian understands is the heart of God.
He’s not a teddy bear. He cries. He weeps. He gets angry.
God has emotions too.
And if there is any Christian who is serious about their faith and really understands the heart of God, they’d feel it too. He wants to spend time with this generation, and what does he get? a couple of minutes a day? 10 minutes?
He gives us every second of every day because he loves us, and in return we give him a few sentences. What is this? This is a joke. Barely any Christian knows God because barely any Christian spends time with him.
It’s heart breaking. I know just a handful of people my age who actually know what God is like.
How can you possibly expect to know someone if you barely even talk?
Christians tend to think of God as a stress ball.
When things go south, we go straight to God. So he can push us along.
Because we keep God right behind us. Close enough to know that he’s there, and just near enough to push us forward when things get hard.
Do you know where he should be?
In front of you.
He’s not interested in being right behind you. He’s not interested in dragging you along through your hard times. He’s not your stress ball, and he’s not your therapist.
He’s your daddy.
He wants to lead you so that you don’t have to fall. And when life pushes you down, he’s not interested in dragging you. He wants to pick you up, and never let you go.
But we don’t like that.
Because we love control.
We don’t know how to live with God.
This vessel only has one captain.
Who’s it going to be?
YOU or GOD?
And I’m angry. I’m angry all the time. Because I’ve felt God’s tears. We wonder why we feel so broken and why God doesn’t fix it. We don’t let him.
Most of these problems happen because we put him behind us. We try to lead God instead of letting him lead us.
Then we wonder why this world is so bad.
And someone will probably read this.
And everyone who does read this will forget it in a few hours, maybe even a week if it touches the heart.
But will this generation change?
Because this generation simply does not care enough about God to put him in front.
We’d rather keep him behind us.
Close enough to know he’s there, and near enough to push us along.
But far enough so we don’t have to get sucked into caring about him.
So if you’re one of these people..
How about the next time you pray, you ask God how he’s doing.
You’ll probably end up crying with him.
And then when you do, and you actually understand God, then things will change.
Because all he wants is to be with YOU.
— Luke 2:11
— Exodus 34:6
1 My son, if you receive my words
and treasure up my commandments with you,
2making your ear attentive to wisdom
and inclining your heart to understanding;
3yes, if you call out for insight
and raise your voice for understanding,
4if you seek it like silver
and search for it as for hidden treasures,
5then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.
